Dear Harry, Steve and Neil,
On behalf of the Landmark Trust I just wanted to write and say Thankyou for working closely with Stuart and Peter Napier to help us carry out significant repair works to Landmark’s North Street properties under the recent Governments Cultural Recovery Fund for Major Works.
The deadline for completing the works was tight especially with the need to carry out sensitive conservation works over the winter months. In addition, the onsite team also had to deal with our Landmark’s tenants on a day to day basis, which we appreciate was not easy at times. However, the final result looks fantastic and is a real credit to the skills and workmanship of you and your skilled team.
H A Briddon are an established and long-standing family-run contractor, however this is the first time we have worked together. We acknowledge your dedication, skills and commitment to us on this project and we hope we can build on this successful working relationship into the future.
With best wishes,
Susan

" The Landmark Trust owns and maintains many properties of National Historic significance on North Street in Matlock. North Street is the earliest planned industrial housing in the world and the finest of its type ever built, vastly superior to that of the next century and is now part of a World Heritage Site. As part of our repair and maintenance program we embarked on major improvement works to replace aged doors and windows, repoint with a historically correct hot lime mortar, and carry out chimney and roof repairs along the street.
This was not only technically complex it also required a great deal of careful planning, collaboration with the local council conservation office and Historic England. The works were also due to take place during winter months which is not the traditional time to be using hot lime mortars, that in itself added to the complication of successfully completing the project within the 6 month timeframe.
The Landmark Trust appointed H.A.Briddon as principle contractor to undertake this difficult task and we worked closely with them at every stage of the process. We found them to be highly professional and adaptable to meet the needs of a dynamic programme of works. From behind a specifically designed protected scaffold the works commenced.
The site management was excellent with clear lines of communication flowing to and from the site. We were also hugely supportive of H.A.Briddons use of craft apprentices, the project supported the training of two trainees in both Masonry and Joinery. This level of training is invaluable to the next generation of craftsmen and women maintaining the countries delicate historic fabric. A major part of the works was to recreate doors and windows based on the original design from the 18th Century, this was carried out by H.A. Briddons in house workshop. From site survey, fabrication and installation the whole process was carried out by their highly skill joiners (and Apprentice!) each item bespoke and made to measure. The workshop response to unscheduled items like rotten facia boards behind guttering was immediate and very impressive.
The Landmark Trust holds H.A.Briddon in high regard and would very much like to work with them again. From a knowledgeable management team to a highly skilled, dedicated site team and a workshop that produces the highest quality bespoke items we feel that the conservation of historic buildings is in safe hands".

"Owning a listed building we were very concerned to get a building firm that understood the requirements for certain materials and approaches to the work required. With Briddons we got their considerable expertise and craftsmanship to help restore the house, repairing external walls through wholesale repointing work, replacing and repairing guttering and drains where needed, and repairing and rendering chimneys and brick walls. They took as much pride in their work as we did in it being our home. The on site team were friendly, professional and cleaned up each day. The project and construction managers, Harry and Steve were incredibly responsive and dealt with any issue that arose on the same day or within 24 hours of it being raised, making it a far less stressful time than it could have been. We have no hesitation in recommending Briddons to anyone that asks".

"Dear Simon and Team,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your hard work and commitment during the Chatsworth Stables project. It was always going to be a challenge to deliver such a big project in such tight time frame, I am pleased to say we managed to open on time, pretty much completed!" .

"Dear Simon,
I would like yo extend my tanks to you and Harry for your support, expert advice and encouragement with our build.
The quality of the build has been first class and a testament to the excellent staff and subcontractors that you employ.
When the foundations were constructed for the Scandia Hus timber frame they requested a level surface to + or - 5mm. This was achieved and the same standard was maintained throughout the construction.
It has been a pleasure working together with you.
Thanks."

"Having lived in Derbyshire for only five years, I didn't know any builders in the area. When visiting a local well know historic house near Bakewell with friends, I noticed several H A Briddon Ltd vehicles in the car park close to the scaffolding over the roof. This fact plus further research online encouraged me to contact H A Briddon Ltd to arrange a meeting. Over a year later, the significant extension works have been competed. Harry, Simon and all the staff were polite, professional, and extremely easy to deal with. Being a "self-confessed perfectionist" that has extended 5 houses in Buckinghamshire over the years, workmanship, quality of finish plus attention to detail are just a few of the qualities I expect in a firm of general builders. H A Briddon Ltd more than ticked all these boxes, an experience that had the potential to be extremely stressful being new to the area, ended up being, without doubt, the best to date. I have already and continue to be, extremely happy to recommended this family run business. THANK YOU!!" A. King
